The work is titled “Lepidoptera Femina” - it’s based on the style of the Liebig victorian trade cards but with a more contemporary feel. The Papillo Zelicaon refers to the type of butterfly the wings are from. The reference to orcidaceae is about the flowers although they are not actually strictly orchids - just a fanciful representation of a botanical. The figure isn’t necessarily depicting a fairy or real woman in costume, I prefer to let the viewer take what they will from her but I hope she inspires a sense of calm and serenity in her pose and her appreciation of the flowers and the present moment. - Gerad Taylor
